Modern Electrical Infrastructure Meets Intelligent Lighting

Techkinect provided the electrical and lighting systems for this new-construction residence in Maineville, Ohio, working alongside Scheffer Construction on the home's primary electrical scope while coordinating directly with the homeowner on several technology and luxury lighting upgrades.

The project began with the complete electrical infrastructure required for the new home, including branch circuits, receptacles, recessed lighting, dedicated appliance circuits, smoke detectors, fan wiring, and other electrical systems throughout the residence. The electrical installation was planned from the construction drawings and adjusted as necessary to meet applicable electrical requirements.

Control4 Lux Lighting Control

Rather than finishing the home with conventional switches throughout, the lighting system was upgraded with Control4 Lux smart lighting controls. The system incorporates smart switches, universal dimmers, keypad dimmers and other specialized controls to provide dimming and scene-based lighting throughout multiple areas of the home.

The Control4 system also provides a foundation for automated lighting scenes and centralized control, allowing the lighting throughout the home to operate as an integrated system instead of a collection of independent switches.

Architectural & Tunable-White Lighting

One of the defining features of the project is the extensive use of architectural LED lighting. Control4 Vibrant RGB and tunable-white LED lighting was incorporated into select areas of the home, using DMX decoders, dedicated power supplies and aluminum extrusion systems for a clean, finished installation.

The illuminated stairways are a great example of how the electrical and technology portions of the project came together. Linear lighting integrated into the stairs creates functional pathway lighting while also becoming an architectural feature of the home.

Detached Barn & Garage

Techkinect's work also extended beyond the main residence to the property's new barn/garage. The building received a dedicated 125A electrical subpanel and feeder, grounding system, workshop circuits, lighting, fans and technology infrastructure.

Networking equipment was included to extend Wi-Fi connectivity to the building, while controllable permanent lighting was incorporated around all four sides of the garage soffit.

The result is a property where traditional electrical work, intelligent lighting and connected technology were planned together—providing the homeowner with a cleaner installation today and an infrastructure that can continue to evolve with the home.
